Your first document

A document is an ordered set of snippets, assembled on the canvas and rendered in the preview as you go.

  1. Open Documents and press New document. The workspace opens on the document it created.
  2. With the editor closed, find a snippet in pane 1 and drag it onto the canvas.
  3. Add the rest the same way, or, with the editor closed, press ⏎ on a snippet row in the tree to put it at the insertion point.
  4. Drag a row's ⋮⋮ grip to move it, or focus the row and press ⌥↑ or ⌥↓.
  5. Read pane 3: with the editor closed and no prompter running, it is the document.

The insertion point

With the editor closed, the canvas footer says where the next insert lands: Insert at end on a newly opened document, and the position after a row once you click or focus it, as in Insert at 03.

Assembling has the rest of the canvas: the row menu, removing and undo, and what a row's pinned revision is.

Fields

A snippet can carry a placeholder such as {{customer_name}}, filled once for the whole document. Fields covers writing and filling one.
